Research Help Question

Q: I saved an article and now I can't view it. How can I find it again?

Research Help Answer

A:

Most likely you cannot view the article because you were not logged in to the library or the database when you saved it.

Here are some tips to try and recover the article:

  • If you know which database your article came from, you can go to the A-Z Database List and click the link for the appropriate database.
  • If you remember the keywords or search terms you used to find the article, you can try to repeat the search.
  • If you have any information about the article (Date, Author, Journal Name, etc.), you can use these to try and find your lost article.

Please contact your campus librarian for more help.

Here is how to save articles in EBSCOhost databases & on the library's website (to help prevent future saved article issues)

  • In most EBSCOhost databases, when you want to save an article you must login or create an EBSCO account, which is separate from your library account.

Bookmarking the page, saving the URL, using the "Add to folder" button, or the  option are all temporary ways of saving the article and are no longer valid once you leave the database page.

  • Instead of creating an EBSCO account, we suggest that you use the built in e-mail function to send a copy of the article to yourself.

  • When searching in the library catalog, you cannot save articles, only searches.  Visit https://westcoastuniversitylibrary.libanswers.com/research/faq/291136 to read about how to save a search in the library catalog.
  • Instead of saving a search on the library website, we suggest that you send a link of the article to yourself by clicking on the  icon and entering your email address in the "Your Email" and "Recipients" fields.  Then click the Send Email button.  Now you will have a direct link to the article.
