Research Help Question

Q: How do I search for images?

Research Help Answer

A:

Some of the WCU library databases include options for searching specifically for images.  Some of these databases include Credo Reference, CINAHL Ultimate, Opposing Viewpoints (Gale in Context), Lexicomp, ProQuest databases, and Academic Search Complete.  Many of these databases will have a box in the advanced search section pertaining to "images," while others might have a tab to help you search exclusively for images.

We do not generally suggest searching in Google Images or Bing Images, but if you choose to do so, here are some tips:

Google Images:

  1. Click on the "Tools" button below the search box
  2. Click "Usage Rights"
  3. Select "Creative Commons licenses."

Bing Images:

  1. Click on "Filter” on the far right side of the page.
  2. Click on "License," below the search bar.
  3. Select "Free to modify, share, and use."

Do not just copy and paste the image from the list of results. These sites only help you find images, but you do not own the image. To use the image, you must look at the website the image originally came from and read the owner's use policies (license filters may be inaccurate in regards to website policies).
