General Education Question

Q: How do I find information about the ethical or cultural perspectives of my topic?

General Education Answer

A:

While searching for articles on the different perspectives of your topic, it’s important to NOT use the words “ethical perspective” or "cultural perspective."  This is because the database looks for the specific words you put into your search, so it’s very unlikely that a relevant article will contain the exact words “ethical (or cultural) perspective.”

Instead you should use keywords that DESCRIBE the ethical or cultural perspective of your topic.

  • Some sample keywords which describe the ethical perspective include:
    • Quality of life
    • Dilemma

A sample search might be "diabetes AND quality of life."

  • Some sample keywords which describe the cultural perspective include:
    • Community
    • Population

A sample search might be "diabetes AND community."
