West Coast University will no longer be providing access to RefWorks as of February 28, 2025. We recommend exporting your references to Zotero using the steps below. Zotero is free to download and use.
Exporting References from RefWorks
1. Log into RefWorks and select the All References option on the left side of the page.
2. If you have more than 50 references, use the Display drop-down to make sure all references fit on one page. You will need to export one page at a time if your collection exceeds 2000 references.
3. Click the Select all on this page box.
4. Choose the Share icon and select Export references.
5. Then select All references in All References under From and BibTeX under Format.
6. Select the Export button and save the file to a folder on your device where you can easily retrieve it later.
Importing References to Zotero
1. You will need to download Zotero on your device if you do not already have the Zotero application.
2. Go to File and then Import.
3. Select A file when asked: where do you want to import from?
4. Click on the Next button.
5. Select the file you exported from RefWorks and saved to your device. Use the Open button to proceed.
5. Copy files to the Zotero folder by choosing that option. Selecting the box to place imported collections and items into a new collection will place references in a new folder.
7. Click the Next button to continue and the Finish button to close the window.
Please visit Zotero’s Getting Help page for assistance using Zotero. You can also contact your campus library staff if you have any questions about using Zotero.
