APA Question

Q: What is plagiarism? What is self-plagiarism?

APA Answer

A:

Plagiarism is passing off someone else's work as your own or not giving proper credit when using outside sources.  Any easy way to avoid plagiarism is to properly cite your sources.

Self-plagiarism is the presentation of your past work as new.  For example, re-submitting a paper you wrote for a previous class for a current class assignment is self-plagiarism.

The official APA Style website does a great job of explaining plagiarism and how to avoid it.  Access their plagiarism section here and view their Avoiding Plagiarism and Self-Plagiarism Guide.
